Google announces acquisition of Zync

In the technology M&A landscape it is not uncommon to hear that Google has made a recent acquisition deal. As a large company that is constantly working on a number of projects, it frequently needs access to new technologies or talented teams that will help it achieve its desired aims. As such, the company makes acquisitions from time to time.
This blog recently wrote about one of Google's acquisitions in which the company bought Gecko Design, Inc. to help with its Google X lab projects. Google stood to benefit from gaining a talented team that is skilled at creating hardware. Gecko Design employees went on to join Google and it is possible that they will go on to do design work, though the specific terms of the deal were not announced.
It was announced recently that Google has just made another acquisition. According to Tech Crunch, Google has acquired a company called Zync. Zync makes technology for visual effects rendering. According to an article from PCWorld, Zync performs large scale rendering. The article details that Google has plans to offer the service as part of Google Cloud. Zync's Zync Render technology has been used to create special effects for major motion pictures.
"Since its inception at visual effects studio ZERO VFX, nearly 5 years ago, ZYNC was designed to not only leverage the benefits and flexibilities inherent in cloud computing but to offer this in a user-friendly package. Pairing this history with the scale and reliability of Google Cloud Platform will help us offer an even better service to our customers—including more scalability, more host packages and better pricing (including per-minute billing)," said Zync on its website.
Through this acquisition strategy, Google looks to continue building up its services. Contact an M&A advisor to learn more about developing an acquisition strategy.
