MA-based health tech firm acquires IL-based implementation provider

Health care is one of the fields that benefits most from technological advances. In fact, one could argue that medicine is a long series of technological advances that help patients live longer and healthier lives. However, the industry depends on tech innovation across many different channels, from communication to payment processing and the medical devices themselves.
Data has played a central role in the discovery, innovation and operations processes for medical facilities. Good data management is critical to making a facility operate smoothly and analyses of data lead to breakthroughs in all kinds of medical practice.
This week, it was announced that Arcadia Healthcare Solutions has acquired Sage Technologies for $28 million. Arcadia is a Burlington, Massachusetts-based analysis firm and Sage Technologies is headquartered in Illinois.
"The deal represents a new business line for Arcadia, which tracks and analyzes data from electronic health records," reports The Boston Globe. "Sage, through data collection and other services, specializes in helping health care organizations move to new business models known as accountable care. These models require doctors and hospitals to better track patients health."
Despite the geographic distance between the enterprises, leadership at Arcadia emphasized how Sage Technologies will play a central role in innovation and service improvements. While the price tag is reported to be $28 million, the Globe reports that the transaction is worth up to that amount so long as Sage Technologies meets its performance targets.
